SMS Policy
Effective Date: 09 June 2026 | Last Updated: 09 June 2026
This SMS Policy explains how Prodigal Money, a brand and division of ZAP TECH PRIVATE LIMITED, sends and manages SMS communications to consumers whose accounts have been placed with us by their original creditor of record. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions and is published to satisfy CTIA Short Code Monitoring Handbook, Twilio 10DLC, FDCPA, and TCPA requirements for SMS practice transparency.
1. Brand Identification
Sender brand: Prodigal Money — a brand of ZAP TECH PRIVATE LIMITED (CIN U74900PN2012PTC143202)
A2P Brand Registration: verified with Twilio TCR · STANDARD tier
Carrier infrastructure: Twilio Inc. (10DLC carrier-compliant)

2. Use Case
Prodigal Money SMS messages are sent solely in support of account servicing for consumer accounts placed with us by original creditors of record. Permitted message categories:
- Initial contact and FDCPA validation notice references (linking back to written notice)
- Payment reminders and payment-arrangement options
- Payment confirmations and receipts
- Account-status updates and balance changes
- Dispute-handling acknowledgements and status
- Identity-verification (KYC) follow-up where requested by the consumer
- Customer support follow-ups initiated by the consumer
- Settlement-offer communications and expiry reminders
We do not use SMS for marketing, advertising, promotion, sweepstakes, third-party products, or unrelated commercial offers.
3. Consent Provenance (How Opt-In Works)
Consumer consent to receive SMS messages from Prodigal Money is established through the placement-transferred consent model:
- At the time of opening the underlying account with the original creditor of record (such as a bank, credit issuer, or lender), the consumer agreed to that creditor’s communication terms, which include consent to receive account-related communications via the contact channels on file, including SMS to the mobile telephone number provided.
- When the creditor places the account with Prodigal Money for collection or servicing, the consumer’s consent to be contacted on the account transfers to Prodigal Money under the placement assignment, in accordance with FDCPA and CTIA Short Code Monitoring Handbook §5.2.
- Within five (5) business days of our initial communication with the consumer, we provide an FDCPA validation notice that identifies (a) Prodigal Money as the debt collector, (b) the original creditor and amount of the debt, (c) the consumer’s rights to dispute and request validation, (d) opt-out instructions, and (e) a link to this SMS Policy at theprodigalmoney.com/sms-policy.html.
Consumers may also re-opt-in after a previous opt-out by replying START or by contacting our consumer support team.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies depending on the stage of account servicing and the consumer’s engagement. Typical frequency: 0 to 4 messages per week per consumer. We do not exceed 6 messages per week in any rolling seven-day window for any single consumer, except in response to consumer-initiated communications.
5. Carrier Rate Disclosure
Msg & data rates may apply. Standard message and data charges from the consumer’s wireless carrier may apply to messages sent and received under this policy. Prodigal Money does not charge the consumer separately for SMS messages.
